I had just turned 40 years old and spent the last two decades of my life as a typical suburban housewife. I was happy and loved myhusband and five children but resigned to being frumpy, overweight and languid.

My son was a rigger for a concert promtion company when I found out he was working a concert I wanted very much to attend. Money being scarce he suggested I get a job with the company so that I could " push a few cases and watch from back stage". I hadn't held a paying job in 20 years but that's just what I did.

I was highly skilled at baking bread and changing diapers, so I didn't expect to be called back for another gig, but called I was and learning new skills with every new concert.

To my son's dismay ( he thought it would just be the one show) , and to my surprise I showed a natural ability for stage hand work. Rising in the ranks I went from pushing crates to running electrics, building truss, and wardrobe work to running spotlights and rigging.

This did prove to be strenuous labor and for the first time in many years I began getting muscles. I actually thought there was something wrong with my clothes and not that I had lost weight. I had spent so much of my life avoiding sweat and the scale!

Now I'm 46 years old. I've run a spotlight for Eric Clapton and worked wardrobe for Elton John. I've lost 85 pounds! and never felt better. I have the wisdom that comes with age ( I think) and the beauty that comes with youth.

I am so ready for anything now and looking forward to the best years of my life which are all ahead of me now!
